The Wu-Tang Clan is a highly influential hip-hop collective from Staten Island that consists of RZA, GZA, Method Man, Raekwon, Ghostface Killah, Inspectah Deck, U-God, Masta Killa, and the late Ol' Dirty Bastard. They are frequently joined by fellow childhood friend Cappadonna, a quasi member of the group. The Stop the Violence Movement was begun by rapper KRS-One in 1989 in response to violence in the hip hop and African American communities.
In 1988, during a concert by Boogie Down Productions and Public Enemy, a young fan was killed in a fight. The killing occurred shortly after Scott La Rock, a friend of KRS-One, was killed in a shooting. Masters Of Ceremony

A short-lived, golden age rap group in the '80s, the Masters of Ceremony made no considerable impact on hip-hop outside of their NYC suburban locale, except that the group first put on display the mic techniques of Brand Nubian member Grand Puba. Formed in New Rochelle, NY, the Masters trio, rappers Grand Puba Maxwell and Dr. Who plus DJ Shabazz, was the first act signed to imprint Strong City, co-founded by Afrika Bambaataa associate and DJ Jazzy Jay in 1985. The Masters of Ceremony's debut single, "Crime," arrived that same year, followed in 1986 by the more successful 12"s "Sexy" and "Cracked Out", both produced by Jazzy Jay. With the bulk of the production handled by Grand Puba, their Dynamite (1988) LP was a commercial disappointment, though it was regarded highly among N.Y. hip-hop collectors at the time. A few more 12"s, including the album title cut and "Master Move", were released before the group eventually disbanded that same year...

In the 1970s, Kid Capri began to attend block parties, starting his DJ career at the age of 8. He eventually garnered widespread attention at Studio 54 and began selling his sets with his partner at the time Starchild. Kid Capri has deejayed for seven seasons of Def Comedy Jam. He's also produced tracks for Boogie Down Productions, Heavy D, Big L, Grand Puba, and Quincy Jones. He eventually released an LP on Warner Brothers Records titled The Tape in 1991. He appeared in the 1993 movie Who's the Man? alongside Doctor Dre, Colin Quinn, KRS-One, Ice-T, Pete Rock, CL Smooth, Eric B and many others...
